Youth Group, Wednesdays, 7:00-8:30
Open to 8th grade students through college age young adults. The group focus is on maintaining a close relationship with Jesus through study, discussion, and service activities as they grow together in serving the Lord. The youth are involved in numerous local mission projects throughout the year, being the hands and feet of God through serving others. Projects have included packing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, working for Habitat for Humanity, and yard work for local seniors.
In July of 2015 the youth traveled to South Dakota to work with the national organization, TeamEffort, to serve members of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. They offered helping hands and compassionate hearts to a people living in what the group called 3rd-world-like conditions. Our youth helped babysit the children, clean trash from in and around the home, put up a clothesline, rebuild a bathroom adding plumbing, plywood and linoleum, and underpin the home to protect from the wind and cold. They shared food with the children as they waited on food boxes to be delivered by the tribal council. These acts of kindness and service blessed not only the people on Pine Ridge Reservation but our own youth as well.
The youth also enjoy fun outings locally such as Zip Lining, white water rafting, ski trips, cookouts, and camping. Leaders maintain a Facebook page, a closed group with access for members only, to stay in touch with one another.
